The Mauritius Tamil Temples Federation, apex body of the Tamil Community was founded in 1960 with late Kistnasamy Sunassee as its first chairman.

To provide assistance and advice in the management of the Kovils (affiliates)
To distribute financial subsidy to its affiliates
To establish relationship with other socio-cultural organisations locally and abroad within the Tamil Diaspora
To promote the religious, social, educational and cultural advancement of the Citizens of the Tamil Community in the Republic of Mauritius.

The Board of the MTTF

The Board of the MTTF comprises of 18 Executive Members, 2 from each of the 9 different districts across Mauritius, elected for a period of two years. The Managing Committee is led by the President and is also constituted of a Vice President, the Secretary, two Assistant Secretaries, the Treasurer, an Assistant Treasurer and a Public Relations Officer. Throughout the decades, the executive members have proudly served the community on a voluntary basis."
